Gabriella Possum Nungurrayi was born at Mt.Allan, Northern Territory in 1967. She is the eldest daughter of world renowned & current record holder Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri (c 1932-2002). Gabriella first received recognition in 1983 as the youngest entrant to be awarded  the Alice Art Prize whilst she was a 16year old student at the local Yirara College. Under the tutelage of her father, Gabriella acquired narrative and dotting prowess, often collaborating with her father to large scale works.

Main story elements in Gabriella's works were inherited stories from her paternal grandmother, Long Rose Nungala and other senior women privy to Anmatyerra Lore-including Grandmother's Country, Seven Sister's Dreaming or the Milky Way, Bush Tucker Dreamings, Goanna Dreaming & Women's Dreamings.
