Ester Nungala is a Pintupi Woman from western Desert. Born in 1978, Ester comes from an extended family of renowned artists. Her grandmother is Naata Nungurrayi, a senior Pintupi woman Naata from Kintore and is one of the leading respected senior elders of the Kintore women artist movement, with works sought after by collectors worldwide. Naata’s brother is well known artist George Tjungurrayi. This painting depicts important women’s sites and designs associated with the site of Marrapimti, west of the Kiwirrkura Community. Ester’s painting depict significant women’s dreamings and aspects of traditional women’s inherited law.
