Original & Authentic Aboriginal Art

Founded in 1996, Original & Authentic Aboriginal Art specialises in Aboriginal Fine Art from across Australia, including the Central and Western Desert, The Kimberley’s, Arnhemland, Melville & Tiwi Islands, Victoria and N.S.W.Our gallery offers a diverse collection of traditional and contemporary Australian Aboriginal paintings, ochres,sculptures, ceramics and works on paper. We offer select works from other International First Nation Indigenous artists, including Indigenous American artists.

Original & Authentic Aboriginal Art acquires its works through Australia’s prominent Aboriginal-owned art centres as well as representing leading independent Indigenous artists.

Represented Art Centres include Ampilatwatja Artists, Barkly Regional Arts, Bindi Mwerre Anthurre Artists, Buku – Larrnggay Mulka, Ikuntji Artists, Iltja Ntjarra, Injalak Arts, Kaiela Arts, Keringke Arts, Mangkaja Arts, Maningrida Arts, Martumili Arts, Mimili Maku Arts, Mornington Island Artists, Mirndiyan Gununa Aboriginal Corporation, Munupi Arts, Ninku Arts, Warmun Arts and Waringarri Arts.

The Directors Alexis & Huntiri Hessen have been involved in Indigenous art since 1988.

Alexis has Bachelor of Arts (Indigenous Studies) major in Aboriginal Cultures and a major in Comparative Indigenous Studies at the University of South Australia.

Huntiri worked with Indigenous art centres and communities in his role as a technician installing satellite phones HF and VHF radio equipment in the mid 90’s.

Working with the elders of these communities he developed a deep love for the culture and traditions of the First Nations People.

Alexis and Huntiri passionately continue to support Indigenous communities with a goal of raising awareness through fundraising and charity events to improve living standards and building independence and a renewed pride in culture and Indigenous Art.
