Nellie Marks Nakamarra was born in 1976 at Kintore, Central Desert. She was raised by her stepfather, the late famous Turkey Tolsen Tjupurrulla and her older sister is Elizabeth Marks Nakamarra. She paints Dreaming stories inherited from her Grandfather and father encompassing the land east of Kintore. Other artistic influences to her work are skills and story taught by Old Mick Namararri, Uta Uta and Pinta Pinta.

Nellie’s stories have strong traditional elements with stories depicting the physical country as well as subject matter including motifs of the original storm during the Dreaming such as lightning Dreaming, flash flooding, important rock holes, soakages and creeks.
