Bungalung Men, Water Dreaming

“Bungalung Men, Water Dreaming” is a masterpiece by Johnny Warangkula Tjupurrula and was painted in 1998.

“Bungalung Men, Water Dreaming” tells the Dreamtime story of the two Bungalung men having a boomerang throwing competition. This is represented by the white lines scattered throughout the painting. The concentric circles are storm clouds showing the strong winds and rains on that particular day, perfect weather to throw boomerangs. I love that you can see tracks of the Bungalung men running around catching the Boomerangs.
